The Rapture & the End Time Wrath of God We Avoid

The Pre-Tribulation Rapture view is a source of comfort for many Christians who are nervous about what is taking place in the world. It’s comforting to think about how all our troubles could end at any moment with the Rapture.

Some of the most persuasive items that seem to favor the Pre-Tribulation Rapture view are several verses that state that Christians are not appointed to wrath. For instance, 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 states that Christians are not appointed to wrath:

“(9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)

Despite these verses, there are some who argue against the Pre-Tribulation Rapture view. Are these people blind? Are they ignoring Scripture? We will see by looking at the wrath of God we are not appointed to in this article.

Not Appointed to Wrath

As stated, the Bible promises that Christians will not endure “wrath”. Here are three prominent passages where this promise appears:

“(9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)

“(8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (10) For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:8-10)

“(9) For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; (10) And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.” (1 Thessalonians 1:9-10)”

Many followers of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture believe that the tribulation is God’s wrath on the wicked. Therefore, the Rapture ought to take place before the tribulation since Christians are not subject to wrath.

  • Is this line of thinking correct? We’ll answer this question by looking at whether the tribulation is the wrath of God that Christians will not see.

Thumos Wrath vs Orge Wrath of God

Many people assume that the three passages above mean that Christians are not subject to any wrath. However, few are aware that the Greek language distinguishes between different types of wrath mainly through the use of the words orge and thumos.

  • Thayer defines thumos as “passion, angry heat, […] anger forthwith boiling up and soon subsiding again” and orge as “indignation which has arisen gradually and become more settled…” [1]

The difference between the two terms is the nature of the wrath.

  • Thumos represents a temporary surge of anger that will rise and quickly subside.
  • Orge represents anger that lasts for a prolonged period.

Regarding God’s wrath in an end time context,

  • Thumos is the wrath that God will exhibit against the wicked as they refuse to respond to efforts encouraging them to repent.
  • Orge is God’s longstanding wrath against the wicked, who He will punish with lasting consequences (i.e. eternity in the lake of fire).

The word orge appears in 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, Romans 5:8-10, and 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10, so orge is the type of wrath that Christians are not subject to. Therefore, Christians are not subject to God’s deliberate, long-standing wrath against the wicked.

The Tribulation

The tribulation is not the orge wrath of God. Instead, the tribulation (or affliction) is thlipsis in Greek.

“(3) That no man should be moved by these afflictions [thlipsis]: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. (4) For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.” (1 Thessalonians 3:3-4)

“For in those days shall be affliction [thlipsis], such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.” (Mark 13:19)

Wrath of Satan: the Great Tribulation

The great tribulation is a future period when the worst persecution in the history of the world will take place. The Antichrist will use everything that he has to destroy those who will refuse to worship him and Satan.

We can refer to the great tribulation as “the wrath of Satan”. Where do we get that term? Take a look at Revelation 12, which describes Satan at the midpoint of the tribulation. Satan is full of wrath when he is cast to the earth and ready to wage war against his enemies:

“(12) Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. […] (17) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Revelation 12:12, 17)

What type of wrath does Revelation use to depict the wrath of Satan? Revelation uses thumos. The great tribulation is not part of the orge wrath of God that the Bible promises that Christians will not see.

The Wrath of God in the Bowl Judgments

Revelation 15:1 indicates that the bowl judgments (or vial judgments) will finish or complete the wrath of God.

“And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.” (Revelation 15:1)

This verse causes many to think the bowl judgments and the events that take place before them are part of the wrath of God that Christians will not see. However, orge does not appear in Revelation 15:1. The verse uses thumos to depict the wrath of the bowl judgments.

  • The fact that the bowl judgments will complete or finish the thumos wrath means that every event before the bowl judgments is thumos wrath and is not orge wrath. In other words, Orge wrath has not yet begun at the onset of the bowl judgments.

When the Orge Wrath of God Arrives

God will unleash orge wrath at the onset of the Day of the Lord, a period most people view as synonymous with the wrath of God that Christians will not experience. The Apostle Paul wrote that Christians are not appointed to orge in a passage where he discussed the Day of the Lord:

“(2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. […] (8) But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. (9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath [orge], but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:2-3, 8-9)

When does the Day of the Lord Begin?

Joel tells us that the sun and the moon’s appearance will change just before the coming of the Day of the Lord:

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.” (Joel 2:30)

Christ and Revelation describe the appearance of these signs. Christ tells us that these signs will appear after the end of the great tribulation:

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:” (Matthew 24:29)

After the 6th Seal

Revelation 6 adds that these signs will appear after the opening of the 6th seal. Also, Revelation 6 recognizes the coming of God’s orge wrath:

“(12) And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; […] (16) And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (17) For the great day of his wrath [orge] is come; and who shall be able to stand?” (Revelation 6:12, 16-17)

We can deduce from this that the Day of the Lord and the orge wrath of God will not begin until after the end of the great tribulation and the opening of the 6th seal.

7th Trumpet

Revelation 11 adds that God’s orge wrath is present after the sounding of the 7th trumpet heralds the coming of God’s Kingdom on Earth after the tribulation:

“(15) And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. […] (18) And the nations were angry, and thy wrath [orge] is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.” (Revelation 11:15, 18)

This passage reaffirms that God’s orge wrath will not begin until after the end of the great tribulation and tribulation.

Conclusion

We learned in this study that:

  • There’s no promise to remove Christians from the tribulation or the great tribulation in 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10, 1:9-10, and Romans 5:8-10.
  • There’s a promise to spare Christians from the pouring of orge wrath at the onset of the Day of the Lord.

Revelation 3:10

You may object to the first conclusion of this study by pointing out the promise Christ made in Revelation 3:10:

“(7) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; (8) I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. (9) Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. (10) Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (11) Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.” (Revelation 3:7-11)

Many view this verse as a promise that Christ will remove the Church before the timing of testing on the earth (i.e. the tribulation). However, the Greek text, the original language of Revelation, does not support this view.

The Greek word for “keep” (tēreō) means “to guard (from loss or injury, prop. [properly], by keeping the eye upon…)”[2]

  • Think of keeping or guarding your heart as Proverbs 4:23 encourages us to do. You don’t remove your heart from your body. You watch over it.

The Greek word for “keep” in the context of Revelation 3:7-11:

  • Implies that faithful believers associated with the church of Philadelphia will be protected during a time of difficulty
  • Conveys nothing about Christians being physically removed from the time of difficulty.

Furthermore, the word “temptation” in Greek (peirasmós) does not mean “wrath”, particularly the “wrath of God”. Instead, peirasmós means, “a putting to proof” i.e. testing.[3]

  • The ultimate end time test for Christians will be the great tribulation when they have to decide whether they are willing to die for Christ. Recall that the persecution of the great tribulation relates to the “wrath of Satan”.

Final Thoughts

At the beginning I asked whether those who oppose the Pre-Tribulation Rapture were ignoring Scripture. At this point, I hope you realize that they are not ignoring Scripture when it comes to passages about God’s wrath.

Please understand that many of today’s popular Bible prophecy teachings rely on misquoted Scripture or Scripture that’s taken out of context. This look at the wrath of God that Christians will avoid is a good example of why it’s important to be a Berean and to not automatically accept everything you hear.

  1. Interesting, you don’t see the three sets of dooms proceeding chronologically. That is, seal #6 follows the bowl judgements. Logic forces that conclusion because the anti-Christ is not revealed “to the world” until the Abomination, the midpoint of the 70th week. I totally agree that Christ cannot come until the anti-Christ has been revealed. But I think he is revealed twice. Once to the world and once, earlier, to Christ followers. The “little horn” will come on the scene, initially, as the titular head of the 10 nation confederacy and the one who has brokered a peace deal in the middle east. Christians who know their Bible will certainly recognize him at that point, the beginning of the 70th week. I hadn’t noticed the distinction of the two Greek words for wrath. I’m going to look into that. Thank you, Greg S.

    • “Logic forces that conclusion”. For many years, I saw the events progressing in chronological order like you do. But those distinct Greek words helped to change my view on that. Also, Revelation’s chronology flows in the same way Old Testament prophecy books like the Book of Daniel flows. It goes back and forth in time. The seals, trumpets, and the bowls end with a common point: the start of the orge wrath of God.

      • Wow, thanks for responding so soon. I stumbled on your site only yesterday. You have obviously been studying the End Times for some time. I am going to study the Greek words for wrath and try to get a handle on why they drive you to put Seal #6 after the Trumpets. But for now, wouldn’t you agree that the A-C will become obvious to Christians as soon as he takes office atop the 10NC at the beginning of the ‘week’?

          • OK. Does this not mean that, for Christians, the two conditions of 2Thes 2:1-4 regarding the “coming of the Lord.. and our being gathered to him” (the falling away/rebellion and the lawless one revealed) have, been fulfilled? If so, then the Rapture can happen anytime thereafter. Would you agree or am I missing something?

          • No, it’s not fulfilled yet. The context of the unveiling of the Antichrist is him sitting in the temple in Jerusalem and declaring that he is an object of worship. This event equates to the abomination of desolation at the midpoint of the tribulation/70th week. But even after that, the Rapture can’t come at any moment. The word Parousia (the word “coming” in 2 Thessalonians 2) refers to a very specific time when the sun is darken, the moon doesn’t give its light. Parousia appears in Matthew 24:27 in context with the events at the end of the tribulation. Furthermore, the Parable of the Wheat and Tares (particularly Matthew 13:30) indicates that the gathering of the righteous won’t take place until the end of the age, and when that happens, it shall be the wicked who will be gathered first to their impending doom. The righteous won’t be gathered first like it’s popular these days to believe.

  2. Hi Wayne. I believe that so many Christians are forgetting what God says. Fear not for God is with you. Do not believe everything you read or hear. Search the Scriptures to know the times and to be ready. WATCH, READ THE BIBBLE AND PRAY ALWAYS!! So many people react to what the false teachers and unbelievers say because they do not know the bible. Where has bible reading gone? All our worries can be done away with if we read the bible to know the truth, not what the false teachers are saying. Show yourselves approved to God by reading the best book in the world. THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELVES. Place your fears in God’s hands and He will bring you peace. Amen!

  3. How will the USA be affected by the antichrist. And why would we not see a Peace Agreement between Palestine and Israel in the next year?

    • I am not optimistic about the U.S.’s future, but no matter what, I think the U.S. would go along with the Antichrist. The U.S. wouldn’t oppose him. Antichrist’s influence will span the entire globe, so the U.S. would most likely fall into his sphere of influence. That means life would become rough for many Americans unless they submit to the Antichrist’s authority.

Why not a 2021 agreement? The confirmation of a 7-year peace treaty between Israel and others, including the Palestinians, will occur at the start of the 70th week of Daniel (or the 7-year tribulation). A tribulation timeline spanning from 2021 to 2028 does not fit the scriptural timing clues presented in places like Daniel, Revelation, and elsewhere.

      • Hi Wayne, thank you for posting this information. There are too few people who understand the post-trib, pre-wrath rapture information. Without ever hearing the words “orge” or “thumos” before, I was able to come to the same conclusion as you just by studying ONLY the Bible. One of the best things I have ever done was to study just the Bible and stop reading books and papers about the end times that were based on human reasoning and speculation. Now the hard thing to do is to find, like-minded or not, people who like to study eschatology.

  4. This almost unbelievable. To actually see somebody teaching this. I get joked at and ridiculed because I don’t believe in a pre trib rapture. A lot of them make it seem like not believing in a pre trib rapture, trumps John 3:16. Rev. 4:1 is the one they always say. To me this John being called up so he can write the rest of Revelation. How is that a rapture scripture. Wrath, I tell them that. Look at Job. That wasn’t God’s wrath but he allowed it. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Why didn’t God spare them from from the furnace. The king even made it hotter for them. Daniel. Why didn’t God spare him from going into the den. Since no one knows but God, who even started the rapture teaching. Not even the angels know. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe even Jesus knows. That would be a brilliant move because that should dismiss any talk about it. Is God going to tell a human or and angel before he tells His own Son.

  5. Hello Bro Wayne, since you oppose Pre Trib rapture can you please explain 1 Corinthians 15:51-53? Also who was Paul talking to and does this take place.?

    • Paul is talking about the gathering of the righteous at the end of the age. The dead in Christ rise first and then Christians who’ve survived the great tribulation will rise to meet Christ in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). The righteous will have incorruptible bodies at that point in time.

This will transpire at the gathering of the righteous at the end of the age. It’s timing is after the end of the great tribulation/tribulation. See Matthew 24:29-31. Interestingly, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Matthew 24:29-31, and 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 mention the sounding of the trump of God.

      • Respectfully, that makes no sense. Why would we meet Christ in the air after the tribulation is over, just to turn around and come right back down? The church is in heaven during those 7 years. We are already IN white ( Rev 3:4), when we come to Christ. Sardis is the Protestant church.

The real question here is this: Is His sacrifice and His blood not enough that we now have to EARN our salvation by being tried and tested along with those who don’t already believe?

The Tribulation is not for the Bride of Christ, who is His true and faithful Church remnant today. It is a period of judgment and martyrdom for those who are not in Him, and have thus far rejected Him, as His last olive branch of salvation before the end of the world. Why would His saints need to go thru that? The Bible tells us we are ALREADY washed in the Blood of the Lamb.

Rev 19 and 20 also make the distinction clear between the bride of Christ and the Tribulation saints:
Rev 19:7-8 “…for the marriage of the Lamb has come, it was granted her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and pure, for the linen is THE RIGHTEOUS DEEDS of the saints. (Not for martyrdom, as it is in Rev )
Vs 14 goes on to describe how we come down with Christ to the earth so He can put down the rebellion. And again, we are arrayed in white.
Chapter 20 opens with the souls of the Tribulation martyrs being brought back to life. Well, how is the Church to come down dressed in white with Christ to put down the rebellion, if we haven’t been raised yet?? Because chpt 20 is not referring to us. It’s referring to the Tribulation saints. We are already in Heaven.

Was the promise only given up to a certain point in history? Or are all of the Christians since the 1st century going to come back down and go thru the tribulation, as well? God doesn’t make that distinction.

You would all do well to study the book on Revelation written by J. Vernon McGee. A man who understood Greek and Hebrew inside and out. His translation of Rev 3:10 is, “Because thou didst keep the word of my patience, I, also, will keep you OUT of (from) the hour of the TRIAL, which is (about) to come upon the whole inhabited world to test (try) them that dwell upon the earth.” He goes on to say, “Christ’s final word of encouragement to His church is that it will not pass through the Great Tribulation. The church is to be removed from the world (1 Thess 4:13-18), which is comfort and hope. (Titus 2:13). Such is the patient waiting of the church, ‘…who through faith and patience inherit the promises.’ (Heb 6:12)
The church is not anticipating the Tribulation with all of its judgment (John 5:24, Rev 13:1-8, 11-17), but rather it is looking for Him to come.”

“Therefore, there is now NO condemnation.” Roman’s 8:1

        • Back in Christ’s time, it was customary for a welcoming committee to meet a dignitary and escort them to the destination where the dignitary was heading. This is the point of the Church meeting Christ in the air and escorting Him to Earth. This is also indicated by the Greek word apantésis in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

Revelation 20 describes the resurrection of the martyred saints as the first resurrection. According to Paul, the dead in Christ rise FIRST (resurrected) before the living saints are transformed. Revelation 20:4 alone means that the resurrection of the saints and the transformation of the living saints can’t happen until after the 5th seal, which I believe encompasses the great tribulation.

Revelation 3:10 does not promise the removal of the Church before the tribulation. The Greek and the later chapters of Revelation does not support the Pre-Trib Rapture theory:

          https://www.prophecyproof.org/revelation-310-promise-pre-trib-rapture/

          https://www.prophecyproof.org/revelation-4-1-depict-rapture/

The gathering of the Church before the tribulation makes no sense when you consider Luke 17:37 and the Parable of the Wheat and Tares. These two areas of Scripture tell us that the wicked are taken first to their doom before the righteous (living and dead) are gathered.

          https://www.prophecyproof.org/luke-1737-overlooked-prophecy/

Luke 17:37 is perhaps the most overlooked Bible prophecy verse in the entire Bible. I encourage everyone to study that verse and the implications of that verse. My friend Annette did and her views on the Rapture changed completely:

          https://overcomingthetribulation.com/luke-17-37-carcasses-eagles-and-taken/

Why should we get better treatment than the Apostles of the Bible? We’re nothing special. We are not better than they are. I am not better than the Apostle Paul or any other apostle who got martyred. I don’t deserve better treatment.

          • Excellent teaching brother Wayne!
It answered so many questions I had.
I was raised pre-trib but see things differently now. The research into the Greek meaning of the words was enlightening. How can the church think they are without spot or wrinkle right now and are entitled to high tail it out of here with no holiness or repentance apparent?
Many are apostate also. If the harpazo
was tomorrow, no one would qualify. They are not ready. Jesus said all those who overcome till THE END shall be saved. We have to stay faithful to the end despite tribulation and persecution. I do believe Jesus will keep us throughout and protect us from much because He knows who are His own. God bless you.

        • Thank you Trish. Jesus will appear for those ready and looking for Him. Sadly, all those who are not looking for a pre-wrath rapture will be stuck here for the tribulation. Thank you for your comments.

      • I have just spent 14 months in the book of Revelation which has taken me from Genesis to Revelation . As I studied it I tried to give any and all thought and beliefs I had . As I startd this journey I moved further and further from the pretrib teaching , to , what and when is the “WRATH OF GOD” which I now believe starts at or some time in the 6th seal and 7th trumpet which I think is announcing The King is coming . I and my precious wife have both come to this same conclusion and I will humbly say we believe the pretrib belief is what I call , wishful thinking or feel good preaching . Just my humble opinion . No matter what we believe we should never let our interpretation divide the brothers and sisters of Christ . Whether it is early or late in the tribulations about to beset the world or message whit all foundation is the Gospel of Yeshua , Christ Jesus , we must be making believers , bringing others to Christ or Lord and redemer. God Bless you , we believe as you do Sir !

        • I tried to “forget any thoughts and beliefs I had” . sorry hands did not type what my mind was saying !

        • I’m pleased to hear that you and your wife were able to think independently and were able to overcome past teachings to reach a similar conclusion as myself.

  6. My thoughts on the length of time that God’s wrath will be poured at the end of this Age.

In the days of Noah, God poured out His wrath of rain upon the Earth for 40 days. I believe that this is a good indicator that God’s wrath that He will pour out at the end of this Age, will also last 40 days.

  7. If we’ve learned anything from the scriptures, it’s that the saints are almost ALWAYS subjected to persecution, pain and suffering BEFORE they come home to be with the Lord. And just as it lays out in the Shepherd Psalm, we too have to walk through the valley of the shadow of death in order to fully share in Christ’s fellowship. So the Pre-Trib argument that the church will not have to suffer just isn’t compelling enough for me.

    • The Church all around the world suffers now. It makes no sense that it wouldn’t suffer in the end times tribulation. Believe are admonished to “stand firm to the end.”

  8. I have a question what are your thoughts on the whole asteroid/comet coming the end of this month? I’ve heard mention this could be wormwood as mentioned in the Bible. NASA and other space websites that these 2 while potentially hazardous will safely fly by earth. Question is should we trust their data? Could this trigger more end time events if it were to hit?

Also what are your thoughts on this virus in general. Do you see us ever going back to some sort of normality or this about to get worse and life as we knew it is over.

    • I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not time yet for Wormwood’s arrival.

See my reply to JR regarding the coronavirus. I’ll add that I don’t think anyone alive now will forget this experience. As a result, I think you’ll see some people begin to wear masks regularly as a precaution even when this is all over.

      • Wayne,
I think God’s sending us the unequivocal, unmistakable message that we are on the precipice or cusp of the Great Tribulation. What’s happening now is a warning from God, who always allows a time of repentance before lowering the boom so to speak. As bad as this seems, this experience with the coronavirus will pale in comparison to the gruesome, grisly aspects of the Great Tribulation. It’s time for all of us to realize that God wants our attention.

  9. Hie.. please assist me with knowledge about what time are we in right now.. are we in great tribulation..

    • We are in the “latter times”. Not the end times. We aren’t in the great tribulation or in the tribulation. As bad as the pandemic is, things in this world can get much worse before the tribulation begins.

      • Many Christians in the medical profession are saying that the Covid 19 vaccines contain nanoparticles that can change your DNA and is pushing transhumanism. I don’t know if this is truth or fiction. I won’t take the vaccine anyway but just want to know the truth about it. Some of the articles I read were scary because they say if the vaccine messes with your DNA, you will be like a hybrid and therefore irredeemable to
God. Like the giants in the Old Testament. What are your thoughts on this ?

        • I’m not a medical expert, so I can’t comment on what the vaccine does to a person’s body. I don’t view the vaccine as the Mark of the Beast, so I don’t think anyone who takes it is irredeemable.

    • What’s interesting is that I think events like this will give the world a reason to implement a mark of the beast. I think this mark will be marketed (pun unintended) as a way to keep us safe, show that we’re healthy and will be a “certificate” that we aren’t a terrorist, etc. I read a story that in China, a resident of Wuhan had to show a specific QR code on their phone in order to go to work or shop.

  10. Hello,
A friend of mine encouraged me to check out your site and I must say it is spot on. I have a few questions for you.

I see someone above me already asked this question in regards to this pandemic. The entire globe has been affected and it seems we are on the verge of a financial global collapse. Is the mark of the beast coming like as in this year or next?

    2. I’ve heard rumors that Rabbi’s in Israel have stated they are having meetings with their Messiah and hope to unveil him by Passover. Is this the AC?

    3. Lastly I’ve always believed the church has to endure until the end do you see this pandemic as biblical prophecy are we heading into the tribulation? Are we in the final years?

    • 1. The Mark of the Beast is NOT coming this year or next year. No chance of that happening. For that to come this year or next year, the Antichrist would have to reveal his true identity to the world this year or next year. That’s impossible because that event doesn’t come until the midpoint of the tribulation (3.5 years into it). The tribulation hasn’t begun yet.

      2. You won’t see Antichrist this year.

      3. The coronavirus pandemic is an example of “pestilence” in Christ’s birth pangs (Matthew 24, Luke 21, Mark 13). The coronavirus has the potential to make global conditions much more conducive for the start of the tribulation. However, I don’t believe the tribulation will begin for at least another 20 years at the earliest. I’ve done a lot of research relating to different prophecy timelines in Daniel which lead me to believe that.

I’m more concerned about the pandemic leading to a global economic and financial collapse if it persists for an extended period of time. If such a thing develops, you’ll see many crazy things happen. Think of the Great Depression, but worse.

      • Thank you for your response. So than what is this whole Bill Gated vaccine and quantum dot all about? Why are people stating this is the mark. To be quite honest I don’t know who or what to believe so many news articles, so many conflicting articles it’s hard to trust anything anymore. Ultimately we are to trust God but these shelter in place orders are driving people mad and stir crazy myself included. Do you believe there may even be a possible sneak nuke attack from another country on US soil? I’ve heard this rumor being kicked around lately as well. Could it be the catalyst for WW3?

      • Hey Wayne!

I’ve read many of your blog posts and everything has been very thought provoking. I grew up in a church that taught a pre-trib rapture so I never knew anything other than that. After reading your posts & scripture (more closely) I now see that a pre-trib rapture just doesn’t support scripture.

I have also purchased your newest book, but am a little confused. Here I see that you don’t think the tribulation will start until another 20 years at the earliest but in your book you list 2026 as a feasible start date?

        • Hi Sidney,

To clarify, the comment about 20 years was made BEFORE the 2026 date was identified in my research. Therefore, I didn’t think 2026 was possible when I made that comment, but the results of my research that came later has caused me to reconsider. 2026 is possible with the way things are going.

  11. With all the Events going on globally especially this novel coronavirus that is causing so much panic and hysteria do you think that maybe Jesus is on his way? I didn’t subscribe to the pre-trib theory but now I’m not sure it seems with cancellation of flights, concert’s, closures of: schools, theme parks, etc and grocery stores being overrun by scared people it feels like the world Is ending and there is this urgency and fear of uncertainty in the air. I won’t lie I’m scared and am not ready for his return but trying to be. Could this very well be it? What are your thoughts?

    • This isn’t the end of the world. This is a small taste of things to come when the end of the world arrives, but we are not close to the end yet. It feels surreal to see society shutting down and everyone in a panic, but there will be better days ahead.

      • Thank you for the response. I read on another site where it is predominantly pre-trib they are counting on a global lock down to happen 3/26-3/27 and that means we are “boarding the ark” than on 4/4 7 days later after the flood the rapture comes they keep quoting genesis and in the days of Noah. I have mixed feelings about this site because most of the commentators all believe in looking to the stars, weather, news , math equations, concordances and of course scripture to push whatever their thoughts or teachings are. It seems as the globe is starting to put countries on lockdown and this spirit of fear is in the air these kind of sites and media are adding to the hysteria. It’s so hard to know for sure what to expect but I’m not putting any stock into the date setting. I’m more concerned about what happens to those who get left behind do they have a chance to get into heaven? Again I thank you for your response and pray this pandemic blows over soon. Praying you are safe and stay healthy.

      • Who is the multitude that can not be counted by John in seal 6?
You mention this virus bringing about another great depression, is it possible it may be paving the way for the opening of the first seal?
Some political leaders, former and current, have called for a temporary global government, could that set the stage for the ten Kings to give over their power?
Bill Gates and others are calling for an ID chip tied to vaccines to be put into use as a way of tracking coronavirus patients as well as vaccinated people in general. Similar to having to have vaccines to attend school, is it possible for out of this current global panic that an id, or mark if you will, could be put in place requiring people to receive it in order to participate in economic markets/hold a job?
Doesn’t the AC show up, via seal one, during a time of crisis so as to offer peace? With Israel in it’s homeland and a peace deal on the table, possibly waiting to be strengthened, could this current global panic be a vehicle to the opening of the first seal?

        • The multitude in Revelation 6 are many of those who will die during the great tribulation.

A new Great Depression would make conditions much more conducive for the start of the first seal. However, I don’t believe the current global panic will lead directly to the start of the first seal. Some time would pass from the onset of a Great Depression to the start of the first seal. The covenant of many associated with Daniel 9 won’t be the current peace treaty offered by the White House and accepted by Israel.

I wouldn’t worry about a vaccine for this pandemic being related to the Mark of the Beast.
