New Thoughts on the Coronavirus

I shared my initial thoughts about the coronavirus back in March on social media and in my newsletter. Much has occurred since that time, so I think it is a good time to share with you what I’m thinking as of May 2020.

I live in the state of California where government officials are more reluctant to lift stay-at-home restrictions than officials in other places. I have not left my home (except for walking to the nearby mailbox to get mail) since early April. I have not put myself in situations where I would be at risk of getting the coronavirus. This is not out of fear. I just don’t have a reason to go anywhere given how things are…

I can’t visit my dad, who remains at a hospital recovering from many health challenges. I’m not allowed to visit the hospital even though I do not put myself in positions to get the coronavirus. I know many other people face a similar situation, so we are all dependent on the Lord to take care of our loved ones. It’s tough, but it’s the way it is.

I have no idea when life will return to some normalcy where I live. Therefore, I just try to take things one day at a time. However, I am getting increasingly concern about the long-term affects of the coronavirus.

I wrote back in March 2020:

“For now, I’m most interested in seeing what type of long-term impact the pandemic will have on the global economy and financial system. In graduate school, I had to manage an investment portfolio in the midst of the worst part of the Great Recession. Each day I witnessed extreme volatility in the stock market as the global financial system was teetering on collapse. The recent stock market volatility reminds me a lot of that time.

If this pandemic persists could we see a global economic depression? What would be the political and geopolitical fallout of a global economic depression? Chaos could ensue if the pandemic is worse than expected.”

I think we are nearing a point where it will become very difficult for things to return to the way they were. The economic damage done in just two months has been severe, especially to small business owners and employees (the damage done is probably worse than many believe it is). Many people have lost their livelihoods, and many may find it difficult to get it back once officials lift major restrictions.

I do not have access to health experts, nor am I under the pressure that many government officials face. Many officials have difficult jobs and are under huge pressure as their decisions can lead to different numbers of people becoming ill or dying. I don’t envy them.

Nevertheless, I believe the lockdown restrictions imposed have led us to a point where it will be difficult to avoid a severe global economic recession or a global depression.

One of my biggest concerns about a severe global economic recession or a global depression is that it can serve as the trigger for major political instability and global conflict in the future.

I made a video back in 2015 where I explain the political instability that I believe will eventually arrive. Every point I made in this video is still valid at the time of this writing:

I’ve long believed that the world needs to see a period of major instability before the rise of the Antichrist. The first seal of Revelation 6 portrays Antichrist as a false messiah figure. This implies that the world will be looking to someone to make things better.

Why would people at that time be looking to someone to make things better? The likely answer is that the global conditions will be bad-much worse than it is now.

Time will show us whether the coronavirus is the trigger that unleashes that period of instability. The longer this pandemic persists, the likelier it becomes the trigger.

  1. Hie Wayne and everyone reading… today I saw an article saying our country is having covid immunisation passports .. South Africa..I am now convinced that covid is a catalyst for something big that’s coming.. I’m honestly frightened…coz eventually no one will be allowed to move or do anything without the vaccine…

    • I know some are worried that the vaccine somehow relates to the Mark of the Beast. I don’t believe the vaccine is the Mark of the Beast. I hope that gives some comfort if that is something you feared.

      • I think you are wrong. In Re 13:16 χαραγμα refers not just to a “mark” but also a scratch of something, like from a tip, like a needle. So I assume the vaxx is related to the “mark of the beast”. For instance (Re 13:17) see what happens in China that they are not allowed to leave or enter their house or district, to travel, sell or buy without a digital passport (vaxx, test). Also related is Re 13:15 which sounds like the MSM, television and the internet, where News reports wrong ideas and spread lies and fear.

If you truly believe in Jesus, you shouldn’t have any fear or concern about Covid anyway. So my family, we all are unvaxxed, we all recovered from C, and have no fear.

I agree with Martin Luther’s view that the pope is the Antichrist.

        • I know what is happening in China, but I have also noticed that restrictions have relaxed in many places. Some restrictions where I have lived have lifted. I am even more confident that the vax is not the Mark of the Beast.

I completely disagree with your view of Revelation 13:15. I believe that people will actually have images/idols of the beast (Antichrist) that will have demons inhabited them. Revelation 9:20 hints at this when it talks about how people will not repent for worshipping idols and demons.

  2. Wayne,
I’d like to know why you think that the First Seal is the Antichrist. What’s interesting is that almost all of the early church fathers believed it was the early success of Christianity, which conquered basically all of Europe for a thousand years. This belief was held by most Christian theologians up until the past 40 or 50 years, where this has been revision to indicate the coming of the Antichrist. This new stance on the First Seal is a totally modernist revision of a traditional view.

The timing of the First Seal is also under revision by modernist theologians. For almost 1900 years many Christian writers believed that the First Seal had already been fulfilled.

  3. Wayne,
I believe we are on the cusp of the Tribulation. This virus has been a persistent crisis on a global scale unlike anyone has seen in their lifetime. The American media isn’t discussing countries like Mozambique and Honduras, where people are at the point of starvation due to the virus. This virus is incredibly persistent, it’s coming back with a vengeance in China right now and in other parts of the world that had supposedly beaten it. Now they are predicting 200,000 Americans will die from COVID-19. This is a staggering number when you realize this figure is nearly double the number of lives lost in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

There’s also a vacuum of leadership in the world and this could usher in the Antichrist. The level of desperation, pain and suffering in the world right now is nearly unimaginable. America looks like a country in its final death throes as the undisputed leader of the world. There’s just a sense right now that almost anything could happen. The very foundations of civilization seem to be shaken. All this gives the Antichrist an opportunity to strike.

  4. Hi appreciate the post. Now with all the civil unrest happening nationally and globally do you think this changes things a little? Could this very well be another birth pang? I have heard many say nothing else needs to happen for Christ to return and in fact are expecting him any moment/second now. Also what are your thoughts of the deal of the century with Israel? Is it the deal that the Bible talks about? Do you see this year be the year of Christ’s return?

    • Hello Maddy. My thought is that the civil unrest was instigated by satanic forces, as usual. Russia, China, Turkey, and Iran thought the combo of virus and unrest would be an opportunity to get it over on the USA. Then the jobs numbers came out … with a roar. Never bet against America. The wilderness is designed by God for his end time purpose. We are on course.

As a fellow real estate developer, I recognize that Trump’s deal isn’t up for negotiation. It will be imposed. Jordan will tolerate the first 30% of the annexation but will pause after that waiting to see the result of our November election. It Trump is re-elected, there’s no stopping the deal … and Jordan knows it.

As for His return, if you mean the rapture, my best guess is the earliest geopolitical date available is next Spring. Our election, Brexit, and the economic disaster in Europe will dictate the timing.

  5. I read your plight with your earthly father. Quite a load for a young man. On the one hand, I’m sorry for what your family is having to endure. On the other, God has His reasons. You’re almost done figuring them out.

Your inclination to see the virus as a trigger is correct. It may not be as much of an economic trigger as a trial balloon loosed by God’s enemy. The world has failed the trial. We are fully compliant now. Time to proceed with the plan.

Southern Europe will have an impossible time economically recovering. That was one of the goals of the exercise. After BREXIT, the EU revenue available to bail out member states will be significantly diminished. A new sugar daddy will be needed. Someone who manages say 1.3 trillion in sovereign wealth. Someone who can fix the problem … for a price.

My initials are SDT. If my family or business partners saw those numbers, I mean letters, they’d know who it was. In the same way, those who are paying attention to prophetic end time events can know who MBZ is. Perhaps a Prince who is about to come? The Prince that he’s championed, also has a number, I mean name, MBS.

I wish you well young man. I’m rooting for you.

  6. The COVID-19 pandemic is most likely the catalyst that causes a global depression because shutting down the global economy severely damaged the business cycle. The economic shutdown will probably result in civil unrest and a period of political instability. We are approaching the 70th Week of Daniel and the introduction of Satan’s Antichrist. Although the future is grim, God did not appoint His church to suffer from His Day of the Lord wrath but to deliver His people through our Lord Jesus Christ (I Thessalonians 5:9) .

    • Beyond severely damaging the business cycle, governments are piling up even more debt, especially the U.S. government. Eventually, sky high debt will either cripple an economy or lead to extreme money printing.

  7. It’s starting to look like the People in Charge plan to make the rest of us put up with a long list of unending restrictions on our personal and societal freedoms. Are these really necessary, or is the New World Order making a power play, as many observers warn?

The thin veil of the pandemic-that-never-was is unraveling rapidly across the United States. People forced into joblessness as “non-essential” contributors are realizing that it’s stupid to wage a war on a germ. For this, we crashed our national economy?

Something smells and it isn’t pretty.

What’s really going on around here?

    • It’s striking how people of different political views see and speak about the coronavirus in completely different terms. I live in a county that is controlled by a certain party, but a neighboring county is controlled by the other party. That county is opening for business while mine remains in lockdown.

I wonder if we’ve already reached the point where the damage relating to the lockdowns have surpassed the damage caused by the actual virus.
