We can gain a better understand of the end times by searching throughout the Bible. One of the books that I believe is underrated in terms of how much end time Bible prophecy content it contains is the Book of Psalms. In this article, I will explain why you should not ignore the Book of Psalms when trying to find information that can help us better understand the end times.
I gathered a variety of passages from the Book of Psalms and matched them up with passages from outside of the Book of Psalms that I believe have end time implications. The similarities between the passages from Psalms and outside of Psalms show that the Book of Psalms contains passages relevant to understanding the end times.
Psalm 11:6-7 & 75:7-8: Wine of the Wrath of God
Revelation 14:9-10 tells us that an angel will proclaim to the world that those with the Mark of the Beast shall drink the wine of the wrath of God. Psalm 11:6-7 and Psalm 75:7-8 appear to be verses related to the pouring of the wine of the Lord’s wrath on the wicked:
“(6) Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. (7) For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.” (Psalm 11:6-7)
“(7) But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. (8) For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.” (Psalm 75:7-8)
“(9) And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, (10) The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:” (Revelation 14:9-10)
Psalm 18:6-7 & 97:1-7 & 102:12-16: The Lord Rises to Act
Several Bible prophecy passages talk about the Lord arising to punish the wicked in anger/wrath, including Isaiah 2:20-21. Psalm 97:1-7, Psalm 18:6-7, and Psalm 102:12-16 each have elements that relate to Isaiah 2:20-21, including:
- The earth shaking violently as the Lord arises:
- The people seeing the Lord’s glory
- People not so certain about the idols they worship

| Psalm 97:1-7: (1) The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. (2) Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. (3) A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. (4) His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. (5) The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. (6) The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. (7) Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods. | |||
| Psalm 102:12-16: (12) But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. (13) Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. (14) For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. (15) So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. (16) When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. | |||
Psalm 18:6-8 & 97:1-4: The Lord Comes With Fire
Several Bible prophecy passages describe the Lord coming with fire, including Isaiah 30:27-28. Psalm 97:1-4 and Psalm 18:6-8 appear to be relevant passages because they too describe the Lord coming with a devouring fire:
“(27) Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire: (28) And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.” (Isaiah 30:27-28)
“(6) In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. (7) Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. (8) There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.” (Psalm 18:6-8)
“(1) The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. (2) Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. (3) A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. (4) His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.” (Psalm 97:1-4)
Psalm 2: Christ Defeats the Nations By Speaking
Several Bible verses describe Christ defeating His enemies by speaking, including Revelation 19:15, 21, and Isaiah 11:4. Psalm 2 also describes how Christ will defeat the kings of the earth by speaking:

- Psalm 83
- Psalm 98
- Psalm 107
- Psalm 110
This is not a complete list of all the chapters from the Book of Psalms that likely have end time implications, but should it be enough (along with the tables above) to demonstrate that the Book of Psalms is a book that students of Bible prophecy should not neglect. Bible prophecy is the ultimate puzzle where every piece matters. The Book of Psalms has many key pieces that must be accounted for in order to get a fuller understanding of what God has planned in the future.

Psalm 22 is a great Psalm. I remember reading it for the first time and being blown away by the parallels to the passages describing the crucifixion of Christ. I just read it again and it was a pleasure reading it again.

PRETRIB RAPTURE STEALTH !
Many evangelicals believe that
Christ will “rapture” them to heaven years before the second coming and
(most importantly) well BEFORE Antichrist and his “tribulation.” But
Acts 2:34, 35 reveal that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand in heaven
until He leaves to destroy His earthly foes at the second coming. And
Acts 3:21 says that Jesus
“must” stay in heaven with the Father “until the
times of restitution of all things” which includes, says Scofield, “the
restoration of the theocracy under David’s Son” which obviously can’t
begin before or during Antichrist’s reign. (“The Rapture Question,” by
the long time No. 1 pretrib authority John Walvoord, didn’t dare to even
list, in its scripture index, the above verses! They were also too hot
for John Darby – the so-called “father of dispensationalism” – to list
in the scripture index in his “Letters”!)
Paul explains
the “times and the seasons” (I
Thess. 5:1) of the catching up (I Thess. 4:17) as the “day of the Lord”
(5:2) which FOLLOWS the posttrib sun/moon darkening (Matt. 24:29;
Acts 2:20) WHEN “sudden destruction” (5:3) of the wicked occurs! The
“rest” for “all them that believe” is also tied to such destruction in
II Thess. 1:6-10! (If
the wicked are destroyed before or during the trib, who’d be left
alive to serve the Antichrist?) Paul also ties the
change-into-immortality “rapture” (I Cor. 15:52) to the end of
trib “death” (15:54). (Will death be ended before or during the trib? Of
course not! And vs. 54 is also tied to Isa. 25:8 which Scofield views
as Israel’s posttrib resurrection!) It’s amazing that the Olivet
Discourse contains the “great commission” for the church but not even a
hint of a pretrib rapture for the church!
Many don’t know that before
1830 all Christians had always viewed I Thess. 4’s “catching up” as an
integral part of the final second coming to earth. In 1830 this “rapture” was
stretched forward and turned into an idolized separate coming of Christ. To
further strengthen their novel view, which evangelical
scholars overwhelmingly rejected throughout the 1800s, pretrib teachers in the early
1900s began to stretch forward the “day of the Lord” (what Darby and
Scofield never dared to do) and hook it up with their
already-stretched-forward “rapture.” Many leading evangelical scholars
still weren’t convinced of pretrib, so pretrib teachers then began
teaching that the “falling away” of II Thess. 2:3 is really a pretrib
rapture (the same as saying that the “rapture” in 2:3 must happen
before the “rapture” [“gathering”] in 2:1 can happen – the height of
desperation!). Google “Walvoord Melts Ice” for more on this, and also Google “Pretrib Rapture Pride.”

I just recently stumbled upon another site about psalm 83. This was a great post showing how much more there is in Psalms. Thanks for opening my eyes. To me, this also debunks a lot of Catholic/others teachings around Revelation being not relevant, allegory or already happened. One would have to disregard most of the bible at that point – especially in the OT.
