The level of speculation and the prevalence of the speculation about December 21, 2012 resemble the speculation leading up to Y2K. 

• In this report I answer whether 2012 truly is a big deal, big hype, or a big deception.

December 21, 2012 represents a special date on the Mayan calendar marking the end of a planetary cycle beginning in August 3114 B.C. and the beginning of a new cycle. 

• Since the Mayans were incredibly skilled in Mathematics many people take their calculations seriously and try to understand the Mayans’s thoughts on their calculations. 
• Many people have gone as far as to claim that the Mayans believed that the end of this current cycle would be marked by Apocalypse as the old world passes away and a new world takes its place.

People have come up with a variety of theories to explain how the world will end on this date.

• Some people believe there will somehow be a pole shift on December 21, 2012 causing widespread chaos on Earth. 
• Other people claim that a hidden planetary-sized object named Niburu will either collide or come close to hitting Earth in 2012. 
• Others people point to the fact that December 21, 2012 will see the alignment of the sun “with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy for the first time in about 26,000 years” as evidence that the world will somehow end on this date.[1]

The End Times seven-year period is known as the seventieth week of Daniel. 

• Most of the future events prophesized in the Bible will occur during this time period. 
• The seventieth week of Daniel is prophesized to last 2520 days (Daniel 12:7, 7:25, Revelation 12:6, 14, and 11:2-3).[2] 

o    We can use this timeframe to assess whether some major predictions that people are making about December 21, 2012 are possible.

1. Some people claim that Armageddon will commence on December 21, 2012.

• For December 21, 2012 to be the date when the Battle of Armageddon occurs, the seventieth week of Daniel must have begun in 2005. 

o    Even a layman knows that the End Times did not begin in 2005.  Therefore, the world is not ending on December 21, 2012.

2.    Some people claim that End Times will commence on December 21, 2012.

•  This is impossible due to the fact the seventieth week of Daniel will end on Yom Kippur which occurs on Tishri 10 of the Jewish calendar. [3]

3.    Some claim that the Antichrist will reveal his identity to the world on December 21, 2012. 

• The Antichrist is prophesized to reveal his identity to the world halfway through the seventieth week of Daniel (Dan 9:26-7, Mat 24:15, 2 Thess 2:3-7).
•  The following table shows why Antichrist cannot reveal his true identity on this date.

In addition, the seventieth week of Daniel is initiated with the signing of a seven year treaty between Antichrist and Israel (Dan 9:27).  There was no such announcement on July 10, 2009 as Israel was not negotiating with the Palestinians.    

Many New Age followers believe that 2012 represents a major shift in human consciousness leading us into the New Age. 

• A major reason why New Age followers hold this expectation is that there have been many messages given by spirits claiming there will be a planetary ascension in 2012.

o    Ex: An Ascended Master (a spiritual being mentioned by Paul in Ephesians 6:12 as the “spiritual wickedness in high places”) named Jesus Sananda Immanuel claimed there would be a spiritual transformation in 2012. [4]

·         Another thing some New Age followers point to is the Harmonic Convergence, which is an astrological event that signified that the current age will come to an end around 2012.  

•  Meanwhile, others point to miscellaneous things like crop circles.[5]

However, very recent New Age channelings reveal that the Ascended Masters are no longer committed to making 2012 the important date they once claimed it would be.

• Ascended Master Jesus Sananda Immanuel recently told a channeler that 2012 will be like Y2K and that the timeline has been pushed back. [6]

o    The reason 2012 will not happen is that God will not allow the events that theses spirits have promised to happen.

Satan’s main goal with the Mayan prophecies, the 2012-related events, and the 2012-related hype is to induce many people to accept a very evil energy which triggers an increase in consciousness.

• New Agers call this energy “Christ Consciousness” which is a very deceptive and blasphemous name because the energy does not originate from Jesus Christ, but from the New Age “Christ” Maitreya[7] (the leader of the Ascended Masters and a being that meets John’s description of the spirit of Antichrist).

o    People receive this energy when they open up their hearts, which is something the Mayans and many others emphasize as the best way to survive disaster. [8]

o    High-level New Age sources indicate that this energy will help prepare people to take the New Age initiation where the Mark of the Beast is likely going to be given.

o    The energy also transforms a person into a follower of Maitreya where they will accept him as their savior when he reveals his true identity to the world

A second reason Satan wants so much interest and attention given to Mayan prophecies, 2012 related-events, etc is that people who go to investigate these topics are likely going to become conditioned to expect the appearance of special beings on Earth in the near future.

• Mayan and other prophecies call for the appearance of the Ascended Masters following the 2012-related events. [9] [10]

o    Matthew 24:37-38 indicate that the appearance of such beings would not be out of the question as the End Times would be like the “Days of Noah” where fallen angels (“sons of god”) intermingled with humans (Genesis Ch. 6). 

The forces of evil have already devised an explanation to answer why these events will fail to transpire in a way that is likely going to enable them to gain favor with people at a later date.

• The forces of evil are likely going to claim in the future that a higher power worked behind the scenes to avert a disaster in 2012. [11]
