Biblical Reasons Why People Should Never Practice Channeling

A while back I listened to a popular radio show with millions of weekly listeners broadcast an over two hour interview featuring two people who claim to be in contact with extraterrestrial beings. I was disturbed by what I heard since the people interviewed were able to promote the practice of channeling (a process people use to contact spirits and the primary method the two people claim to use to contact these alleged extraterrestrial beings) without facing any critique from the host.

The interview was conducted under the false and dangerous assumption that channeling is a way for people to gain valuable knowledge about future events. The host asked the two guests what their sources were telling them about certain subjects as if their sources reliably supplied people with truthful information (which they certainly do not). Not once did the radio host provide a critique of the practice of channeling for their audience. In fact, the radio host endorsed the work of the two people he interviewed and encouraged people to buy the book they were selling. Basically, it was more than two hours of very spiritually dangerous radio for unsuspecting listeners.

I suspect the vast majority of people accessing this article already know about the dangers of channeling. I understand that I probably won’t shed that much new insight for you with regards to this topic-if any-in this article. However, there are many people out there who are unaware of the dangers of channeling. I write this article mainly for these people in hopes that they will find this article and learn to avoid this dangerous practice at all costs.

As a Bible-believing Christian, I believe people should avoid channeling at all costs because the Bible forbids it. The Book of Leviticus and the Book of Deuteronomy strongly warn people to not seek contact with spirits:

“(31) Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. (32) Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:31-32)

“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.” (Leviticus 20:6)

“(10) There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, (11) Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (12) For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)

For more on what the Bible has to say about the topic of channeling, the popular Christian Q&A website Got Questions has an article at the following: Link

The Bible’s strong warnings are more than enough for me to never engage in practice of channeling. I believe there are very good reasons why people should heed the Bible’s warnings to never engage in such a dangerous practice.

I believe it is wise for people to heed the Bible’s warnings since the practice leads to bad spiritual outcomes. People who engage in channeling are going to be led astray by evil spiritual entities that deceive people into believing that they have people’s best interest in mind. For instance, the Got Questions article cited the case of King Saul, whose decision to turn to channeling the dead (1 Samuel 28:6-20) helped lead to his downfall/death (1 Chronicles 10:12-13).

In addition, some people who engage in channeling might unknowingly become tools that these evil spirits use to promote their agenda (i.e. educate people about the so-called “benefits” of channeling or promote unbiblical religious/spiritual teachings). The two people interviewed on the radio show promoted very unbiblical information concerning the future (like insinuating that the Rapture is intended for people who have a certain “vibrational frequency” instead of followers of Jesus Christ) and promoted false information about the nature of the spiritual beings they communicate with (they portrayed them as benevolent beings or “beings of light”). Also, by being featured on the radio show with millions of weekly listeners, the two people might have persuaded some people to begin dabbling in the practice.

I urge anyone who engages in channeling or is thinking about engaging in channeling to stop for the sake of your spiritual health. There are very good reasons why people should heed the Bible’s warnings to not engage in this dangerous practice.

  1. I have been channeling for over 5 years now. I didn’t realize in the beginning that it dangerous until now. I don’t try to channel with a spirit. I’ve been channeling with a human. I was focusing on him for awhile and somehow I manage to break thru to him where we were able to talk back and forth thru the mind. In the beginning I thought it was great, but after awhile things were not working out the greatest. It got to the point where I couldn’t tell if it was him or the devil. After awhile, the guy got mad at me when I thought he was talking to me but it really wasn’t. It was the devil. The guy told me to leave him alone. I did for awhile and then the devil pretended to be him again and started being nice. I fell for it. After awhile, the guy got really mad and asked who I was talking to. I was so embarrassed. This went on for awhile. I tried apologizing to him several time but after awhile he called me a crazy witch. After that he told his family and friends that I am a crazy witch. Word spread around town. After a couple of years he apologized to me(at least I think he did). I accepted it and we started channeling again. It was fine for a little while and then things go out of control again. He stopped talking to me again. I pretty much lost his friendship. Here recently I thought it was him talking to me again and it wasn’t. I was stupid and fell for it again after a couple of months. I’m at the point that I don’t want to channel anymore after I read about why it’s not good. I still get the devil trying to get me to talk again. I want to stop channeling all together. A part of me wants to tell the guy that I was channeling with that I am done talking thru the mind no matter what, but I don’t want him to get mad at me for bothering him again. So right now, I am letting him be. We are both on facebook, and at times I can feel him checking my profile and he feels me checking his. I haven’t checked his profile in awhile. I don’t want to cause any trouble or start anything, so I blocked him. I feel bad about it, but I figured this is what I should do for now, hoping the devil leaves me alone. I have a feeling it won’t. I’ve been reading the bible for awhile now, but the devil still bothers me. How can I get him to stop? I shouldn’t have never started channeling in the first place. My dad told me in my dream one night that I have a gift. Well, I don’t want it.It caused me a friendship.

    • No matter what, do not return to channeling. If you think contacting this guy on your own will put you at risk of channeling again, don’t risk it. Perhaps at some point this person will reach out to you and then you can tell them that you are completely done with channeling. As the Apostle Peter and others said in the Book of Acts: “We ought to obey God rather than men.” God is against channeling. God knows the situation. He knows that you want closure. Focus on pleasing/obeying God and perhaps the opportunity will arise for you to get closure on the situation.

  2. I personally would stay away from any sort of communication with spirits/angels. I would not take the risk. However, I cannot stop you or anyone from taking such risks.

  3. Btw, Speaking in Tongues was Channeling…yes…But from my understanding(It is a relatively dead art due to the peoples straying in their love of God) it was a type that didn’t require trance, you could do it conscious. Be ware of Trance Channeling, some people can do it and test the spirits, most just don’t even try to test them. Easiest if you are conscious when they come in The Apostles and especially Jesus were of a Spiritual Evolution not seen on Earth for thousands of years, so much so we wouldn’t even believe that such people ever existed, knowing this go and read scripture and Lawofone.info, it is neat to see how much more there is to Scripture than any portion of the Modern Church could even understand or fathom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y79dX5SJHDY Carla Talks about testing and Channeling. Spirituality has been taken out of Religion, this is part of man’s politics and evil hijacking of religion, we HAVE to bring it back.

  4. What in the world do you think Speaking in Tongues was? Not this garbage you see today. “Speaking in the tongues of Angels”. You have not read far into things, I understand, but I can tell you for sure that there are Good and Bad “Aliens”(These are merely the Djinns in Arabic, The Angels and Demons). Some are for God, and for us thereby. These are relatively meek and hard to come by, and will rarely if ever directly mess with us. They do not concern themselves with material things, only spiritual. These are more numerous but not as obviously active to us. Now the bad ones, oh hell the bad ones, are responsible for most of the miserable abductions you will read about. These are Demons, and have no love or restraint for us when they show up. The main goal of “Satan” is to overthrow God’s rule over the planet and replace it with his own, then it is to destroy us, then to rebuild us in his liking. Early Christians(And the Prophets, of whom there were thousands) were extraordinarily versed in Spirituality. Speaking in tongues, Casting out Demons, immunity to poison, casting mountains into the sea by words/thought alone(this is how the pyramids were built and Atlantis destroyed) you get the picture. Jesus taught them to wage war, but not physically, spiritually. He taught how to do it and why. Most all of these teachings are lost now, as the early church was quickly killed off. But remember this with Channeling, test the spirits. Ask them of Jesus, if they say he came to us as a human being they are for God, if they don’t it is a demon, do not entertain it. Do this every session and you will do well, Channels are born, it is a gift from God, and remember this, the one unforgivable sin is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which has been the biggest activity of the Christian Church concerning the Holy Spirit. Look up Lawofone.info, Ra is a tested spirit(And interesting enough, tested spirits do not tell information that contradicts scripture, but rather strengthens it), it confessed Jesus Christ is Lord even pr whereas 90% are not and may be Demons in most cases, or in the rare occasion the Good Angels are able to act fast enough, but it doesn’t last long if they don’t test, Channels usually die horribly for this mistake to my understanding. They get pissed if they are Demons and you test them, so that is why I say Channels are born, don’t venture into anything you are not meant to. Spiritual Warfare, and we have all been idle the entire war, the suffering for this is about to start.

  5. I actually watched the Lord of the Rings film trilogy when it came out several years ago in theaters, but I wasn’t into studying the Bible at that time like I am now. I remember watching it for its entertainment value more than anything else. I’ve never read the book series or re-watched the film trilogy.

I’ve never seen or read the Chronicles of Narnia series. I understand the series is popular with many Christians, but I’ve heard others say it has some major flaws.

I think people should be very careful when they watch, read, or listen to anything. For instance, when I listened to that radio show a couple of nights ago, I knew in advance that those two people were very likely going to say religious and spiritual statements that contradicted the Bible. I tried to listen with some sort of a “shield” where I would not let those people influence/reshape my beliefs.

Ultimately, it’s up to a person to decide whether they want to get caught up in something like the Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, etc. If someone is thinking about getting caught up in something I would urge them to first get educated about any potential religious/spiritual flaws that are associated it. I would also urge people to not become obsessed with anything because obsession could lead to a reshaping of values. As an example, some people who’ve become obsessed with Star Wars actually formed a religion based on the content of the series.

I don’t think people should view the Chronicles of Narnia or the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a substitute for religion or as a supplement/teaching tool of religion. If a person wants to get caught up in it, they should just view it strictly as entertainment and nothing more. No source other than the Bible is going to give people flawless religious/spiritual teachings.

I hope this is a satisfactory answer to this delicate issue.

  6. So many people (even many christians) are so unaware of the dangers. Here is a question for you. What do you think of reading and/or watching the books/movies of the Lord of The Rings or the Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.I keeping hearing people say its o.k. because they are suppose to be some sort of “christian alegorical” thing but if they still contain things that the bible warns about, such as witchcraft, good and bad wizards ect… should we be involved in them? Aren’t these things then being seen in a good light and making people think that there is such a thing as “good” magic. Thanks
