Hitler Sought to Destroy Christianity

Everyone with knowledge of History understands that Adolf Hitler was a great threat to the Jewish people during his time in power. In contrast, far fewer people are aware that Hitler was also a major threat to Christianity. The purpose of this article is to provide you some insight about the major threat Hitler was to Christianity.

It’s important to understand how big of a threat Hitler was to Christianity because World War 2 was much more than a conflict between individuals and ideologies. World War 2 is perhaps the best example of how the ongoing spiritual conflict between God and Satan has directly impacted human affairs. I believe World War 2 marked the biggest clash between God and Satan since the time of Christ. Understanding what really occurred behind-the-scenes in World War 2 helps us to see how there truly is an ongoing war between the spiritual forces of good and the spiritual forces of evil.

Hitler Sought to Destroy Christianity

Adolf Hitler ascended to power in the early 1930s while Germany was a Christian nation. However, Hitler and his followers had plans to destroy Christianity not only in Germany but also the rest of the world. Hitler and his followers planned to replace Christianity with a new religion with Hitler as its central point of focus. President Franklin D. Roosevelt revealed the Nazis plan to establish a new religion:

“It is a plan to abolish all existing religions-Protestant, Catholic, Mohammedan, Hindu, Buddhist and Jewish alike. […] The cross and all other symbols of religion are to be forbidden. The clergy are to be forever silenced under penalty of the concentration camps, where even now so many fearless men are being tortured because they have placed God above Hitler.

In the place of the churches of our civilization, there is to be set up an International Nazi Church-a church which will be served by orators sent out by the Nazi Government. In the place of the Bible, the words of Mein Kampf will be imposed and enforced as Holy Writ. And in place of the cross of Christ will be put two symbols-the swastika and the naked sword.”[1]

The intentions of the Hitler regime were confirmed when Life magazine (and later the New York Times) published a 30-point program detailing the fundamental doctrines of the new National Reich Church.[2] [3] The 30-point program affirmed much of what Roosevelt told the public, including the removal of the cross, the replacing of the Bible with Mein Kampf, and the nationalization of all houses of worship.

Hitler’s war was the means he used to pursue the annihilation of the Jewish people and Christianity. Gereon Goldmann, a former Waffen SS solider, revealed the hidden, yet key objectives of Hitler’s war:

“One day a big shot from Berlin came to speak to us. We were stunned by what he said, but we weren’t allowed to tell anyone-it was strictly confidential. This man told us that ‘Victory could only be complete when all the churches were destroyed. Not only the Jewish religion, but also all Christian faiths would have to be eliminated’”.[4]

I believe Hitler would have eliminated every Jew on Earth and would have eliminated Christianity completely if he won the war. Thank goodness Hitler was defeated or this world would be a completely different place to live in. A much worse place…
